‘X-Men’ Star Alexandra Shipp To Present

Best known for her roles in Love Simon and X-Men: Apocalypse, Alexandra Shipp is set to make her debut at the iHeartRadio MMVAs as a presenter at this year’s show.

As an actor and singer, Shipp entered onto the path of becoming a well-known celebrity with the 2014 made-for-television film, Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B. Shipp starred in the film as Aaliyah, a role that allowed her to showcase her dual talents.

After portraying the R&B princess, Shipp went on to play Ice Cube’s wife, Kimberly Woodruff, in Straight Outta Compton, an Oscar-nominated, hip-hop film released in 2015. From there, Shipp landed her role as the weather-controlling superhero, Storm, in X-Men: Apocalypse, a role that she will reprise in the upcoming 2019 film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

On the list of Shipp’s latest film appearances along with Love Simon, is Dude, the Netflix-released comedy-drama starring Shipp, Lucy Hale, Kathryn Prescott, and our iHeartRadio MMVA co-host, Awkwafina. The film follows the four best friends as they deal with the life changes thrown their way during the last few weeks of their senior year.

Alexandra Shipp joins Gus Kenworthy, Chrissy Metz, Colton Haynes, Kristin Cavallari, and Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross as newly announced presenters. Today’s announcement also included new performers 98 Degrees, bülow, Bebe Rexha, Brett Kissel, and The Beaches, who join previously announced performers 5 Seconds Of Summer, Shawn Mendes, Kris Wu, Alessia Cara, Halsey, Meghan Trainor, and Marshmello featuring Anne-Marie.

Also announced today, eTalk host and former Much VJ Tyrone Edwards will be hosting the iHeartRadio MMVAs, with Chloe Wilde and Patrick Langlois returning to host the red carpet show.
