What Your Favourite Song Of The Summer Nomination Says About You

Summer is almost over (a buzzkill, we know), but that means that it’s almost time to crown the theme song to your summer 2018 bliss. The iHeartRadio MMVAs are only a few weeks away, and we’ve got our top picks for the song of the summer all ready to go. Our nominees include artists from a variety of genres, meaning every song has a unique vibe and feel, appealing to a different type of person. What does your favourite song of the summer nomination say about you and your summer? Keep scrolling to find out our predictions.

“Nice For What” – Drake

If you’re top pick is “Nice For What” by Drake, then your summer has probably been based off of the principles of self-care, independence, and securing the bag. In the last few months, you’ve worked on your glo’ up across all spectrums—you’ve been drinking more water, you’ve been building a name from yourself at your summer internship, and most of all, you’ve been learning about your worth. You don’t have time to settle for the things and people that land below what you deserve! “Nice For What” is a song all about women empowerment and like the women featured in the music video, you deserve some recognition.

“Body” – Loud Luxury

Hoping for Loud Luxury’s “Body” to win the iHeartRadio MMVAs for song of the summer? Then your summer has probably been based in the city, where you’ve been living in the moment and meeting a bunch of new people––some that may have caught your eye more than others. This summer, you haven’t been focused on anything too seriously, instead, you’ve been getting your flirt on and loving it.

“I Like It” – Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin

If you’re a Cardi B fan, then your song of the summer is most likely “I Like it” by Cardi B, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin. With its salsa-meets-trap feel, we imagine that you’ve been dancing to this hip swaying rhythm on an international level. You’ve got a yearn for travel, and even if you didn’t get the chance to leave the country this summer, you’re on a mission to make a trip happen very, very soon. On top of your travel plans, you’ve also been doing some serious shopping because, well, you like it like that.

“The Middle” – Zedd featuring Maren Morris and Grey

Have a weird connection with Zedd’s “The Middle?” Then our bet is that your summer has been filled with a bit of conflict between you and someone you care about. Whether you’re arguments are serious or more on the fluffy side, you’re hard headed and your partner is too, making it extremely different to ever find a compromise. “The Middle” is your choice for song of the summer because (aside from it’s addictive, head swaying sound) it reminds you of the person that you love (and love to argue with).

“FRIENDS” – Marshmello featuring Anne-Marie

Like “FRIENDS” by American DJ, Marshmello? Then you’ve probably been friend-zoning left, right, and centre this scorching summer season. Why? Because it’s too hot to be tied down! Instead, you’ve been enjoying festival season to fullest––planning your outfits down to the last face jewel and posing for the ‘gram. You’re focused on keeping and obtaining genuine friendships rather than trying to find a summer love. “FRIENDS” is your ultimate song of the summer because you’ve been sending the music video link to anyone who tries to pass your border between friendship and relationship.

“Meant to Be” – Bebe Rexha featuring Florida Georgia Line

“Meant to Be” by Bebe Rexha is your song of the summer because you’re a go-with-the-flow, spontaneous type of person. This summer, you’ve been piggybacking on all the road trips your friends and family have to offer. Your laid back demeanor may have even scored you a summer fling that you see transitioning well into the winter’s “cuffing” season. But, if it doesn’t you’ll come to terms with it as soon as you can because you’re a strong believer in the phrase, “what’s meant to be will be.”

Tune into the iHeartRadio MMVAs hosted by Awkwafina and eTalk host, Tyrone Edwards, on Sunday, August 26 at 9/7MT on CTV and Much to find out which of the songs listed above will take home the title of 2018’s song of the summer.
