Actor, writer, and producer, Sonequa Martin-Green has just been announced as a presenter for this year’s iHeartRadio MMVAs and we couldn’t be more excited.

Knowing she wanted to be an actor from the age of 16, Martin-Green is best known for her work on television, appearing in shows such as The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time, and New Girl. Currently, the well-spoken actor holds the role of Starfleet captain Michael Burnham in the TV series, Star Trek: Discovery. The role earned her the title of the first-ever black female lead on Star Trek.

Last month, Star Trek: Discovery took home two distinctions at this year’s Saturn Awards, an annual award show hosted by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. Along with winning “Best New Media Television Series” (beating out Black Mirror, The Handmaid’s Tale and Stranger Things), Martin Green took home the award for Best Actress on Television.

She recently appeared on The Ellen Show to talk Star Trek: Discovery and her three-year-old son.

In addition to Sonequa Martin-Green, today’s announcement also includes presenters Derek Hough, Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Tyra Banks, and Prince Michael Jackson.
