Best New Canadian Artist Nominee New City To Present

While the iHeartRadio MMVAs shine a spotlight on some of the hottest international acts, the annual awards show is all about supporting its trailblazing Canadian stars.

Just announced today, Toronto-based rising electro-pop trio—and Best New Canadian Artist nominee—New City will make their debut at the 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs to present.

This fairly new band formed back in 2017 out of two separate projects and is made up of lead vocalist Adrian Mitchell, guitarist Jed Webster, and drummer Nathan Brown. New City’s first-ever song “Coachella”—a summertime jam about the Indio, California music festival—amassed over 1.5 million streams on Spotify while their newest single “Getting Closer” currently has over 7 million.

With a total of three singles under their belt, the trio is due out for a full-length album anytime now and if these tracks are any indication of what’s to come, their debut record will be worth the wait.

In addition to New City, today’s presenter announcement also includes Madison Beer, Sofi Tukker, Scott Helman, Francesco Yates, The Reklaws, Tyler Shaw, Craig McMorris, and Jus Reign.

The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs hosted by Awkwafina go down Sunday, August 26 at 9/7MT on CTV and Much.
