Logic’s ‘1-800-273-8255’ Featuring Alessia Cara And Khalid Wins Video Of The Year

It’s official: Logic’s “1-800-273-8255” featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid is your 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs Video of the Year.

Released as the third single off of Logic’s third studio album, Everybody, “1-800-273-8255” is named after the number for the National Suicide Prevention Line. In a series of tweets posted by the rapper after the song’s release, Logic explained his reasoning behind the creation of single.

“Over the years so many of you guys have told me that my music has helped you through so many tough times,” he wrote. “Many of you have told me it even saved your life. I’m beyond humbled. But I felt I haven’t done enough… I made this song for all of you who are in a dark place and can’t seem to find the light.”

Directed by Andy Hines, the accompanying music video was released in August 2017 on Logic’s Vevo YouTube channel. Now sitting at a whopping 285,000,000 views on YouTube, “1-800-273-8255” follows a young man as he attempts to find acceptance due to his sexuality—a struggle that leads him to the brink of suicide. Though the video stars the likes of Don Cheadle and Coy Stewart, Logic, Cara, and Khalid also make appearances throughout the video.

The iHeartRadio MMVA for Video of the Year was presented by iHeartRadio MMVAs host Awkwafina, Arrow’s Colton Haynes, and X-Men’s Alexandra Shipp. Logic’s “1-800-273-8255” won against the likes of “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes, “Bad at Love” by Halsey, “No Tears Left to Cry” by Ariana Grande, “God’s Plan” by Drake, and “This Is America” by Childish Gambino.
