5 Quotes To Live By, Brought To You The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs

The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs has come to a close and it’s safe to say that it was a huge success. Hosted by Crazy Rich Asians star, Awkwafina, and featuring stars like Tyra Banks, Shawn Mendes, Marshmello, and Jenni “JWoww” Farley, we wouldn’t change an absolute thing.

This year, your favourite celebs brought more than just jaw-dropping red carpet looks and stellar performances—they also brought some major life lessons. Don’t believe us? Check out these four quotes to live by, brought to you by the 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs.

Tyra Banks

“Perfect is boring!” Tyra Banks shouted before she presented the award for Best Collaboration to Bebe Rexha. “Live your life unfiltered, baby!” Banks added.

After years of being immersed in the fashion and entertainment business, Banks is probably one of the best celebrities to seek life advice from. After all, she’s pretty much seen it all. As a presenter at this year’s show, Ty Ty felt the need to make sure everyone watching heard her number one life lesson from H2Tooch.

P.S. It is important to note that Banks does approve of an occasional flower crown Snapchat filter.

Sonequa Martin-Green

“Loving each other as we are is how we win…Representation matters,” said Star Trek lead, Sonequa Martin-Green, before she introduced Halsey onto the iHeartRadio MMVAs stage.

Currently, Martin-Green holds the role of Starfleet captain, Michael Burnham, in the TV series, Star Trek: Discovery, making her the first black female to snag a leading role on Star Trek. Like our iHeartRadio MMVAs show host, Awkwafina, Martin-Green is all for breaking down barriers in Hollywood.

Madison Beer

“Thought history, women have always been badasses…everyone needs to recognize that,” Madison Beer said while on stage with Gus Kenworthy (who also had some inspiring words to share), before the pair introduced Anne-Marie and Marshmello to the stage.

As a badass woman herself, Madison Beer is making strides as an independent artist in the cut-throat music industry. Taking control of the creative process in all aspects of her music, Beer hopes that her fans will see her accomplishments as an example of what they can do independently.

Colton Haynes

“Be yourself and don’t be afraid to embrace it.” Colton Haynes said backstage while reminiscing about his high school years.

The Arrow actor has played his fair share of high school roles, including the role of Jackson Whittemore on MTV’s Teen Wolf. However, unlike Whittemore, who began the series as the untouchable popular kid, the same can’t be said for Haynes’ real high school experience. In reflection of that, Haynes, who only publicly began speaking out about his sexuality in 2016, urges his fans to be their true selves unapologetically.

Awkwafina

“I am a girl from Queens, New York and I just hosted the biggest party in Canada,” shouted iHeartRadio MMVAs host, Awkwafina before she introduced the closing performance from Shawn Mendes. “Thank you for a night I will never forget. Remember if you dream big and work hard, anything is possible!”

Awkwafina is the epitome of someone who started from the bottom and has made it to the top. A few years ago, our iHeartRadio MMVAs host was fired from her office job for pursuing her love of rap. Now, she’s not only killing it in the rap game (check out In Fina We Trust), but she’s also starring in movies alongside Sandra Bullock and Rihanna. According to Awkwafina, if she can do it, so can you with a dream and a lot of determination.

The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs is hosted by Awkwafina and feature performances from Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Meghan Trainor, Kris Wu, Marshmello featuring Anne-Marie, Brett Kissel, bülow, The Beaches, Bebe Rexha, 98 Degrees, 5 Seconds of Summer and Halsey.Watch the show now!
