Halsey Announced As First Ever Winner Of The iHeartRadio MMVAs Artist For Change Award
Halsey is starting her iHeartRadio MMVAs debut off with a bang. Not only is she up for three awards tonight, including Fan Fave Artist, Best Pop Artist or Group and Video of the Year for “Bad at Love,” Halsey is also set to perform for the first time on the iHeartRadio MMVAs stage. But Halsey is already a big winner, taking home the first ever iHeartRadio MMVA for Artist for Change.
Accepting the award on the red carpet, Halsey said “This means so much to me. I try really hard to use my voice the best way that I can. To see that you guys appreciate it the same way only inspires me to keep doing it more and stand up for what I believe in no matter what anybody thinks.”
Since the beginning of her career, Halsey has used her platform to share her own experiences in hopes of inspiring others to feel less alone. An artist who is known for bravely speaking up to help empower other women, Halsey has been a longtime supporter of the “I’m Listening” campaign, which helps spread mental health awareness and provides support for those in need.
Committed to many causes, Halsey also recited a poignant and deeply personal poem at the Women’s March in January, sharing her own experience of sexual assault in support of the #MeToo movement.
Always encouraging her fans to speak up for themselves and stay true to who they are, Halsey is the perfect artist to be the first recipient of the iHeartRadio MMVA for Artist for Change.
