The Weeknd And Future Drop Toronto-Filmed ‘Comin Out Strong’ Video
Back in March, The Weeknd and new girlfriend Selena Gomez were spotted all over the Canadian artist’s hometown of Toronto, renting out movie theatres and grabbing dinner at local restaurants.
While home in the 6ix, The Weeknd also took care of some business, shooting a music video with rap superstar Future. Now, the artists have dropped the visuals for “Comin Out Strong” and successfully turned the TTC into a horror story. Depending on how closely you travel to rush hour, it’s not that difficult to imagine.
At the time, many fans speculated that the video was for The Weeknd’s Starboy track “All I Know,” which features the Atlanta rapper. Instead, the video is part of Future’s HNDRXX, the second album he’s released in 2017.
Shot at Lower Bay Station in Toronto, Future and The Weeknd ride a mostly abandoned subway car, joined only by two women and a group of masked men. The mood of the video is set within the first few seconds, as the opening credits look straight out of a horror film. As if deserted subway platforms at night weren’t already creepy enough, now your fears have a soundtrack.
Performing on the subway platform as vines and garbage surround them, The Weeknd and Future take turns stoically delivering their lines for the camera in the apocalyptic setting. It’s a sad day when you forget your Metropass at home, and Future and The Weeknd are feeling the full effects of that disappointment in “Comin Out Strong.”
The Weeknd and Future are both nominated for iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards this year. Future is nominated for iHeartRadio International Artist of the Year, while The Weeknd scored three nominations, for Most Buzzworthy Canadian, Fan Fave Artist or Group and iHeartRadio Canadian single of the Year for “I Can’t Feel My Face.”
