From Fans To Performers: Tegan And Sara Gear Up For Their Performance Tonight

Hot off the heels of their eighth studio album, Love You To Death, Quin sisters Tegan and Sara are ready to make their iHeartRadio MMVAs debut tonight.

Long-time fans who grew up watching Much and the MMVAs might be surprised to learn these two Canadian darlings have never graced our stage before.

“Being on the actual show is funny to us,” Sara said. “It’s a bit surreal. We’ve been doing it for a long time, but it’s still like ‘Oh, we’re the people that you’re watching now?’”

As teens in the ’90s, both sisters shared fond memories of the awards show.

“It impacted you every year,” Tegan said of the MMVAs. “It’s how you discovered new music and it’s where you saw all your favourite bands perform.”

After tonight’s performance, they’ll head to Japan to continue their world tour for Love You To Death. While the record’s filled with new pop anthems, fans of old school Tegan and Sara won’t be left out, as the sisters promise the tour will have something for everyone.

Love You To Death is a big pop record but we’re gonna play a lot of old songs, and will be reinventing the old stuff,” Tegan promised. “It’s gonna be a really special tour. We’re excited to see all the old school Tegan and Sara fans and the new ones come together.”
