The countdown is on with only eleven more days until the 2013 MMVAs!
Waking up this morning was hard work. The alarm clock on my BlackBerry was my only saving grace, or I would have totally slept through my early call time. Liz and I were up early to prepare for a long day of meetings and interviews. On early mornings like this one, we have to wake up with extra time to prepare a healthy morning breakfast and lunch to keep us moving throughout the day.
With all of the running around you have to do to prepare for the busiest month of the year, it is really important to stay on you’re A-game and keep healthy, by trying to eat healthy!
This morning, Liz and I prepared a super easy-to-make smoothie. This breakfast treat will give Liz the energy for her early appointments.
Grab these simple ingredients:
2 handfuls of baby spinach
1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 cup of frozen raspberries
1 frozen banana – if you do not use a frozen banana add a cup of ice!
½ cup almond milk
1 small scoop of protein powder
I put a secret handful of baby spinach in all of our smoothies. You can barely taste this green stuff, and it is loaded with antioxidants to keep Liz looking fresh and feeling her best.
Did you know blueberries and raspberries are rich in vitamins that keep your brain healthy? These fruits help with the gift of the gab, important when you’re chatting with celebs all day.
Sometimes we use almond milk instead of yogurt or regular milk, to try and avoid dairy. This is especially important for Liz, since she’s normally chatting all day long at work. Dairy can create buildup, making it harder to speak for long periods of time. This is when substitutes like almond milk are great alternatives for a healthy smoothie.
The next step is easy. Blend baby, blend!

Today, we also packed a quinoa salad to eat at lunch, and some cucumber and carrot slices to eat throughout the day.
Liz knows how important it is to stay hydrated whether sitting at your desk or outside on the red carpet. Her secret is adding lemon slices and mint to her water bottles. This keeps you hydrated and gives you a refreshing burst of energy.
