MMVA09 MuchMusic Video Awards

The real award winners were awesome and all, but after watching the whole show (which you can still do here), we’ve come up with some Extra Awards that we wanna give out to the folks that put in that little bit of Extra Effort last night.

Cutest Arrival

Rockers Billy Talent showed up on the Red Carpet with their Rock Dads, because yesterday WAS Father’s Day, after all. Such a classy move. Check out Ian and Mr. D’sa: matching sun glasses, and (almost) matching hair.

Flashiest Arrival

It… probably… doesn’t beat Billy Talent showing up in a tank, but Marianas Trench decided to go the full monty this year, and show up with a PARADE. Seriously, they were on top of a float and everything, and they had a MARCHING BAND accompany them to the show. That’s fantastic!

Best Stage Entrance

It seems kinda obvious in retrospect, but I never expected So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s Nico Archambault and Natalli Reznik to dance their way onstage. Really makes you rethink the way you come onto a catwalk, huh?

Best Stage Exit

Okay, so it wasn’t really an exit, but George from Alexisonfire did this fantastic somersault into the crowd mid-performance. We weren’t able to get a photo of the event, but here’s George getting a running start.

Best Pyrotechnics (ie: Best Explosion!)

Sorry Nickelback, but Lady Gaga has you beat on this one. Chad Kroeger didn’t make his chest explode into fireworks, but she sure did! This is gonna be the most talked about photo of the YEAR, I swear!
