Our Samsung winners Kayla and Ashley got to work at the MMVAs!
Winning, ever wonder what your chances are? Believing you have a chance is worthwhile.
With a few simple clicks, I had entered and won an all-inclusive trip to the MMVAs in Toronto to “Work with the Crew”. Included was round trip flight for two, accommodations, car service, $500 cash, two Samsung GalaxyS5 phones, and crew wristbands.
The first day we toured the Much Headquarters, lounged on the rooftop patio, and watched Imagine Dragons during their soundcheck. Shortly after, we met with a Samsung representative and the Much Digital crew to map out our plan for the Samsung GS5 livestream cam. The livestream was one of six livestream cameras that were being used during the show.
MMVA day: we walked the red carpet and then we were quickly escorted directly behind the scenes. We waited on standby, and watched the red carpet arrivals from the backstage TV screens. During the show, we held the Samsung Galaxy S5 livestream camera, and walked from each stage to capture the performances from the fan and backstage perspectives.
When the show was over, we made our way to the Uncensored Lounge and media offices. There we saw many artists roaming around, we watched Marianas Trench and Ed Sheeran during their interviews.
We really felt like a part of the team and we learned how many hours of work goes into the two-hour show. It is incredible and eye-opening; our appreciation for the crew had grown immensely by the end of our weekend!
The night was still young and even though we had guestlist for an MMVA afterparty, we didn’t make it. We agreed it would be way more fun to party with the crew! The Arkells performed, and we danced the night away! Good times were had by all, and remember that one time that Ed Sheeran was…ah, what happens at the afterparty stays at the after-party 😉
Ashley and I are extremely grateful for this MMVA experience, and would like thank everyone at Bell Media and Samsung.

We all know the story about that Cinderella chick who went from rags to riches in a matter of days. Who we don’t know about is Maggie Rogers, a cool young adult actually from this generation with a similar fairytale storyline. Earlier in March, Pharrell Williams (the fairy godmother of this story) hosted a masterclass […]
Since 2007, American producer DJ Earworm has taken the top 25 pop songs of the year and seamlessly blended the past 12 months into a five-minute piece that somehow totally works. Last December, Earworm released 2015’s instalment in the “United States of Pop” mashup as “50 Shades Of Pop.” Now, Earworm is heating up the […]
J.K. Rowling’s latest book-to-film adaptation, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, may not hit theatres till November, but in the Pottermore world it’s never too early to give the fandom new material. Today, that material comes in the form of a short video uploaded to the Pottermore site explaining the history of the Ilvermorny School of […]
His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Lady Gaga don’t seem like two people who have very much in common. The former is a global leader and the latter is an international entertainer. Despite their titles, they tend to agree on many topics, especially the idea that humanity needs to re-embrace compassion for one another. After […]
Devonté Hynes has been the producer behind some of the most exciting pop music of the past 10 years and now he’s taking his turn in front of the mic. Going by his stage name, Blood Orange, Hynes dropped a video for single “Augustine” last night, the first track from his upcoming album, Freetown Sound. The British […]
