Niall Horan Releases Acoustic ‘Slow Hands’ And Covers Julia Michaels
Just when we thought Niall Horan’s sexy single “Slow Hands” couldn’t get any hotter, the pop star slowed things down and dropped a sultry acoustic version.
Released on YouTube this week, Horan dropped a new video for his latest remix of “Slow Hands.” Once again showing off his penchant for videos shot in recordings studios (Exhibit A and Exhibit B), Horan sports a wide brimmed hat while strumming his guitar and delivering the updated version of “Slow Hands.”
By slowing down the tune, Horan, who is up for Fan Fave International Artist or Group and Best New International Artist at the MMVAs, is able to bring more emotion to the track with his impressive vocal range.
If you’re looking for something a little more dance-able, there’s still Horan’s original version of “Slow Hands” (listen here) that boasts a beat begging to be grooved to.
In case Horan’s cover of his own track wasn’t enough to prove he has a gift for re-imagining songs, Horan has now taken on the track of a fellow iHeartRadio MMVA performer and made us fall in love all over again.
Appearing on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge this week, Horan took on the challenge of making Julia Michaels’ stunning debut single “Issues” his own—and succeeded. Quickening the pace of the track and turning it into an early 90s pop rock tune (think the Gin Blossoms), Horan’s surprising cover breathes a second life into the hit. If we didn’t have the lyrics memorized from listening to “Issues” on repeat for the past six months, we may not have even recognized it. Consider us impressed.
Niall Horan is still working on recording his debut solo album and we think hitting the studio with singer/songwriter Julia Michaels is a fantastic idea. We already know the two sound great together.
Check out Niall’s cover of Julia’s “Issues” below and don’t miss both artists making their iHeartRadio MMVA debut on Sunday, June 18 at 9E/6P.
