Everyone always gets so caught up with the glitz and the glamour of the MMVAs. We all want to win wristbands for the big show, or snap a selfie with a celeb on the red carpet, or even be lucky enough to snag an invite to an after party. But there’s so much more to the MMVAs than what you see on TV. The actual award show is only the tip of the iceberg that is MMVA weekend. It’s not easy putting together Canada’s biggest block party. It took countless hours, sleepless nights, and a lot of confetti to make the award show a success. Here’s some fun facts about what went into producing the biggest party of the year.

47 million Twitter mentions. 23 million hashtag votes #SelenaForMMVA. More than 1 million pounds of steel used for the MMVA stages. 14,400 bottles of water were given to audience members, while 6,000 bottles were given to crew. 12,000 wristbands, Over 10,000 feet of cable was used. 8,300 hours to set up. 5,800 Total feet of barricades. 4980 ft of red carpet. 2,300 hours for take down.  2000 Subway sandwiches were served, Lorde ate 11. 955 people to put on the MMVAs. 428 pyrotechnic effects on the roof and 150 effects on the stage. 285 walkie talkies.  215 blog posts. 185  total number of light fixtures for the red carpet. 117 fraudulent guest list claims. 75 dancers. 66 wranglers. 50 donuts. 58 hours spent on soundcheck. 47 photographers. 35 tractor trailers. 25Lbs of confetti fired out of 4 cannons. 23 HD cameras. 22 MMVA related trends. 20 lighting directors. 16 camera operators. 15 days to build the stage. 12 topless guys carrying Liz. 13 MMVA worldwide trends. 6 live streams. 4 Kendall and Kylie costume changes. 2 weird hats. 1, okay … we guess 2 T-RexXx. Although the presenter, performers, and winners are all stars, here are the real heroes of the MMVAs.
