Lorde Drops ‘Sober’ Ahead Of ‘Melodrama’ Release

Ahead of Melodrama‘s June 16 release, iHeartRadio MMVAs performer Lorde is giving us one last track to tide us over. “Sober” is an understated, minimalist pop track that touches on getting lost in partying, recklessness and romance. On “Sober,” Lorde sings,  “Ain’t a pill that could touch our rush / But what will we do when we’re sober?”

“Sober” marks the fourth track from her second studio album after “Green Light,” “Liability” and “Perfect Places.”

Lorde shared the story behind the song’s creation on Twitter this morning, saying the song “felt like pop music I hadn’t heard before.”

Along with the latest track, Lorde announced a world tour with dates in the U.K., Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Texas-based singer/songwriter Khalid will be joining her on all dates.

Melodrama is due out June 16. See Lorde perform live two days later at the 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs on Sunday, June 18 at 9E/6P.
