Lorde Delivers The Perfect MMVAs Ending With ‘Green Light’ And ‘Perfect Places’
It was the perfect ending to the biggest night in music. Returning to the iHeartRadio MMVA stage to close out the show was singer Lorde, whose second album Melodrama was just released on Friday.
Opening her performance with “Green Light,” Lorde danced and sang overtop a glowing disco floor below her. Switching gears for her double performance, Lorde was joined by a youthful choir dressed in Adidas tracksuits and sneakers for her performance of “Perfect Places,” the latest single from her sophomore disc. Ending the song with an explosion of breathtaking fireworks, Lorde closed out the show with a performance that will have fans buzzing for weeks.
Earlier in the show, Lorde appeared on stage to accept her award for iHeartRadio International Artist of the Year. Tonight’s award marks Lorde’s second iHeartRadio Much Music Video Award, with the New Zealand singer winning Best International Artist Video for “Royals” in 2014, the same year she made her debut performance at the iHeartRadio MMVAs.
After stepping away from the spotlight following the huge success of her 2013 debut Pure Heroine, Lorde re-emerged with a vengeance this year, dropping her striking single “Green Light” in March.
Following successful appearances at Coachella and The Governors Ball, Lorde has just announced her world tour in support of Melodrama, which is set to kick off later this week at the Glastonbury Festival.
The 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs are hosted by Alessia Cara and Joe Jonas and feature performances from Camila Cabello, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, Julia Michaels, Post Malone, Jazz Cartier, Niall Horan, DNCE, and Arkells.
