Lorde Announces New Music And Delivers Amazing Gift To Fan

There’s a saying that you should never meet your heroes, which essentially translates into ‘you’ll be crushed if your favourite person turns out to be a jerk.’ In the case of pop star Lorde, meeting your hero doesn’t disappoint.

That was definitely the case for Ayesha Mangu. The New Yorker was surprised when singer Lorde stopped by her smoothie shop and gave Mangu the okay to post a video of the two together on her Twitter page.

As if that wasn’t cool enough, Lorde then texted Mangu to invite her to the Govenors Ball, which Lorde is performing at this weekend in New York. She. Texted. Her. BFF status has been established.

Along with Lorde, who is paying for the tickets for Mangu and a friend, the festival includes appearances from Chance the Rapper, Phoenix, Tove Lo, Majid Jordan, Jessie Reyez and many more. Like Lorde. So cool.

There’s a good chance Manu and the rest of the Governors Ball festival goers will be hearing a new song from Lorde during her live performance. The 2017 iHeartRadio MMVA performer has posted two lyric teasers on Instagram this week, promising a new song that will debut on June 2.

With pink font on black background, Lorde posted the first set of lyrics on Tuesday, writing, “Every night I live and die / Feel the party to my bones.”

Lorde posted the second set of lyrics today, writing, “Watch the wasters blow the speakers / Spill my guts beneath the outdoor light / It’s just another graceless night.”

Both Instagram posts include the words ‘Melodrama’ written below the lyrics. Lorde released the tracklisting for her upcoming album earlier this month, which includes the song title “Sober II (Melodrama).” It’s unclear whether these lyrics specifically pertain to that song or are simply part of Lorde’s sophomore album. Either way, we can’t wait for Friday.

Don’t miss Lorde performing at the 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs hosted by Alessia Cara and Joe Jonas on Sunday, June 18.

this time tomorrow…
