Long Live Wizber: A Eulogy To Amber Rose And Wiz Khalifa’s Love
There are many love stories that capture us and keep us at the edge of our seat like The Notebook, A Walk To Remember and just about every Nicholas Sparks’ novel that got made into a movie. But there are few real-life love stories that hold our attention and have us wishing that love would last forever as much as Wizber did.
Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa have one of these love stories that no one saw coming. Everyone knew Rose for being linked with Kanye West and Khalifa was relishing in the success of his first hit, “Black And Yellow.” No one could foresee that one of the greatest, real-life love stories was going to capture us for years to come.
Sadly, this story came to an end this week.
As the couple have officially signed their divorce papers and parted ways, we couldn’t help but reminisce about the heart-wrenching roller coaster of Khalifa and Rose’s relationship.
It all began on Twitter…
Amber and Wiz started their relationship in the same way many of us do—on social media. In 2011, Khalifa did a radio interview with DJ Whoo Kid and was asked if there was any woman he could be with, who would it be? Rose relayed to Us Weekly the situation that led to her sliding into his Twitter DMs: “[Khalifa] said ‘Amber Rose,’ — and then I hit him on Twitter, and I said, ‘That’s really cute’ and we fell in love!”
She loved him, he loved her, and everyone was happy
After a year of dating, the couple announced their engagement on March 1, 2012. Everything seemed to be going well for the couple as Rose gave birth to their only son, Sebastian Taylor Thomaz, on February 21, 2013. The same year, Khalifa announced to his fans on Twitter that the couple got married on July 8.
On their one year wedding anniversary, the couple finally shared their wedding pictures to the public with Rose in a Cinderella-esque ball gown and Khalifa in a pink tuxedo jacket.
“Today was the day we said our vows before God and our Family. I knew as soon as I met u, u were the one for me sweetheart. Happy 1 year anniversary @mistercap and many more to come,” Rose said in the caption of this Instagram post. As fans, we truly thought many more anniversaries were going to come for the happy couple.
Suddenly, things took a dark turn…
After 15 months of marriage, Rose filed for divorce. The media blew up wondering why this seemingly happy couple were suddenly at odds with each other. One moment, Rose was dancing to one of Khalifa’s songs in front of a painting of him, then the next story broke with rumours about infidelity on both of their parts—Rose with Nick Cannon and Khalifa with twins Jas and Ness Rose.
They both took to Twitter to clear their names and said their son Sebastian, who was a year old at the time, was their main priority. But things got worse when a custody war started over their son. They aired out their hardships on social media.
The pain…I wake up every morning feeling like my best friend died….. I never knew what a true heartache felt like until now.

It wasn’t until Rose heard Wiz’s song “See You Again” that they called a truce and decided to co-parent. The lyrics read:
How could we not talk about family when family’s all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gonna be with me for the last ride
Despite the hard times, they still have mad love for each other
Rose posted this photo on her Instagram with a heartfelt caption for her ex-husband. The photo is from when they first started dating in 2011, but she posted it last April.
My #ManCrushEveryday you know what it is…. We went wrong somewhere and even if we never ever get back together ( Even tho I pray, dream and hope we do) he will forever be the love of my life. The media doesn't make it easy but fuck them we gotta live for reality and not society. We forever have a bond because we made a beautiful baby from our Love. Through all the ups and downs of our relationship my heart still beats for him every single day. I'm sick of putting on a front like I'm happy without him. I'm not. He makes me happy. He's the only one who can. Regardless of how our lives Turn out in the long run he will always be the skinny tatted up stoner that has my heart ❤️
After a Twitter feud broke out between her exes Khalifa and Kanye West back in January, Rose stepped in to defend herself and Khalifa. It all started when West wanted to change his album name.
New album title, WAVES
— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) January 27, 2016
Khalifa sub-tweeted the rapper, claiming Max B created the wave. But it was this tweet that sent West over the edge:
Hit this kk and become yourself.
— KHALIFA (@wizkhalifa) January 27, 2016
West took it as Khalifa was talking about his wife, Kim Kardashian, while Khalifa was referring to his type of marijuana called “Khalifa Kush.” It was after this that West went on a rant, starting with a “first of all” to a “17th of all.” He went off on his style and music, eventually going too far by dragging Amber and Bash into the crossfire.
This is when Rose stepped in to offer explicit details about her and West’s former relationship that stopped the rapper in his tracks. Arguably, it was after this fight that led to Rose supporting Khalifa at his album release party in New York earlier this year.
…And they lived happily never after.
On the eve of their divorce being finalized, the couple partied at Los Angeles strip club Ace of Diamonds. It wasn’t a celebration for the divorce, but rather a celebration of their love for one another. The couple continue to share custody of their adorable three-year-old son and Rose admits they are much better as best friends than they are as a couple.
Too much fun with my Ex hubby last night & no we didn't celebrate our divorce we celebrated our love 4 each other cuz that never goes away❤️

“I feel like we can be the best of friends but we just can’t be in a marriage together,” she told People magazine. “And that’s okay, because as long as Bash is happy, and we’re able to co-parent, that’s the most important thing.”
