Julia Michaels Recreates Her Debut Music Video For Performance Of ‘Issues’
If you want to get technical, Julia Michaels has performed at the iHeartRadio MMVAs many times before. At least, her songs have. The songwriter turned singer has penned hits for some of the biggest artists in the world, including past iHeartRadio MMVA performers Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Hailee Steinfeld and Fifth Harmony. But with tonight’s performance of her debut track “Issues,” Julia Michaels threw a coming out party worthy of a megastar.
Assembling an intimate setting for thousands of screaming fans, Michaels recreated her “Issues” music video, building a bedroom set on stage that was taken over by two contemporary dancers. Delivering a emotionally raw and captivating performance of the beautifully vulnerable track, Michaels effortlessly commanded the attention of the crowd from her spot in the center of the stage.
“Issues” is Julia Michaels’ first single from her upcoming debut album. The songwriter turned singer recently released her second solo, the sexually charged earworm “Uh Huh” (listen here).
The 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs are hosted by Alessia Cara and Joe Jonas and feature performances from Camila Cabello, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, Julia Michaels, Post Malone, Jazz Cartier, Niall Horan, DNCE, and Arkells.
