Iggy Azalea Will Bounce Onto The 2017 iHeartRadio MMVA Stage
The iHeartRadio MMVAs are about to get mo bounce. For the first time ever, the rapid-fire rapper from down under, Iggy Azalea will be hitting the stage at the annual award show in a one of the biggest performances of the night.
Aussie native Iggy Azalea burst onto the music scene in 2011 after moving to Atlanta and signing with rapper T.I. Azalea dropped her debut album The New Classic in 2014 and topped the Billboard Hip Hop chart, making Azalea the first non-American woman to ever hit the top spot. Azalea earned four Grammy nominations thanks to the success of the albums’ singles “Fancy” with Charli XCX, “Black Widow” with Rita Ora and “Change Your Life” featuring T.I.
We last heard from Iggy with her high-energy track “Team,” which hit the airwaves in March 2016 and acted as the lead single from her highly anticipated second studio album Digital Distortion. Iggy returned to the charts this spring with her infectious “Mo Bounce,” a new single that was worth the wait.
“Mo Bounce” showcases Azalea’s ability to pair intricate rhymes with a radio-friendly backing track. Expanding on Azalea’s previous ode to booties with Jennifer Lopez on 2014’s aptly title “Booty,” “Mo Bounce” urges listeners to put mo(re) bounce in what they do, from beats to moving butts.
Iggy has returned to her mixtape roots with Digital Distortion, taking on producing duties for her upcoming disc, which will drop sometime in 2017. Speaking to Zane Lowe in an interview about “Mo Bounce,” Iggy said, “It’s probably the most fun record on my album. I’ve thought a really long time about what I wanted to put out. When you don’t put out music for a long time, people think a lot about what the first song is and that’s just at 3 o’clock in the morning before I go to sleep. It keeps me up at night,” said Azalea. “I was going to say something super-serious, and then, I don’t know. I’ve been in such a good mood lately. I have all that stuff that I think it’s important for people to hear on the album, but I just want to say something fun. I just want to twerk in a video and have a good time.”
Get ready to have a good time when Iggy Azalea hits the stage at the 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs. In addition to Iggy Azalea, today’s performer announcement also includes Lorde, Imagine Dragons, DNCE, Julia Michaels, and Jazz Cartier.
