#GIRLPOWER Moments From The 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs

In case you missed the iHeartRadio MMVAs (watch here), girl power DOMINATED the biggest night in music. The ladies of the MMVAs showed nothing but love, admiration and complete respect for their fellow women, all while dropping some hella inspirational advice along the way.

Here are some of the best #GIRLPOWER moments from the night.

Lilly Singh Encouraged Love for Thy Sister

The Spice Girl generation is growing up not only strong, but LOUD with voices demanding to be heard. One of those voices is Lilly Singh. Her MMVA arrival was one we won’t soon forget, arriving on the red carpet with a group of young girls all wearing matching t-shirts that said “LOVE THY SISTER.” The arrival made for a totally badass and empowering visual.

Singh took complete advantage of her platform at the MMVAs by letting fans and viewers know that she is all about girl power and self-love. “Right now, more than ever, sisterhood is strength and we need to come together,” Singh said. “Sisters and girls, we run the world!” Damn straight.

While presenting onstage with Riverdale star KJ Apa, Lilly made her feelings clear about the Archie/Betty/Veronica debacle. “Who has time for boy drama? Betty and Veronica’s friendship is GOLDEN!” Preach Lilly!

Compliments Were Key

The amount of kind words exchanged between guests was heartwarming to say the least. Model Martha Hunt made her love for Camilla Cabello known when asked who she was most excited to see at the MMVAs. “Camilla Cabello- that’s my girl!” Cabello opened up the show with her songs “I Have Questions” and “Crying in the Club,” with Hunt jamming out backstage.

MUCH Creator Alayna Fender (MissFenderr) was spreading lots of love on the red carpet and when Pretty Little Liars‘ star Shay Mitchell arrived, she didn’t hold back. Fender was super excited about Mitchell’s sheer white pantsuit while discussing her sleek black ensemble from last year’s MMVAs. “She looks stunning in white!” said Fender. “Get you a woman who can do both.”

Pantsuits and trousers seemed to be a staple among women on the red carpet, with Kat Graham, Shay Mitchell, and co-host Alessia Cara rocking the look. Singer Bea Miller was a huge fan of the night’s reigning style, saying “I love a girl in pants! Like, yes girl, get it!” She totally gets it.

#GirlLove Was Everywhere

Stars were not holding back when talking about the women they admire. Youtuber Tyler Oakley celebrated our favourite talk show host Ellen DeGeneres by calling her a “goddess.” We’d have to agree.

Rapper Iggy Azalea also showed some #GirlLove while on the red carpet. When asked who she would like to trade bodies with, she quickly said Jennifer Lopez. We’ll take Iggy’s body and amazing voice any day.

Inspiration Was In The Air

The MMVAs are a melting pot for creativity. With so much incredible talent all together in one spot, it’s nearly impossible not to be inspired. While on the red carpet, Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham discussed her new album Love Music Funk Magic, saying that early 90s femme pop music played a major role in her sound. Consider our copy pre-ordered.

Closing the show was Lorde and her dynamic double performance of “Green Light” and “Perfect Places.” The New Zealand singer was backed by a choir or young women and men, creating an inspiring moment that left us with chills long after the singer delivered her final stunning note.
