There are a lot of music videos nominated every year at the MMVAs, so to help you familiarize yourself with some of this year’s nominees, we’ve written some important study notes! Here is what you need to know about this year’s nominees for MuchFact Video of the Year.

Classified f. David Myles – Inner Ninja
About the song/video: An inspirational song about anti-bullying, Inner Ninja shows kids bringing out their inner karate kid and learning how to stick up for themselves.
Fun fact: If you think the song title is weird, then you’re not alone. In a JunoTV exclusive, Classified said, “We sat for three days in a row saying, ‘Is this weird? Should we be calling this song Inner Ninja?’”

Marianas Trench – Stutter
About the song/video: Continuing from the storyline of their past music videos from their album, Ever After, Stutter is a fun ’40s-inspired clip that shows off their best jive skills.
Fun fact: As with their last album, Masterpiece Theatre, Ever After is a concept album so every song, including Stutter, is part of a continuing storyline.

Metric – Youth Without Youth
About the song/video: Combining a number of random images in slow-motion with shots of the glammed-up band, Metric’s Youth Without Youth is the band’s first video from their fifth studio album, Synthetica.
Fun fact: The video’s director, Justin Broadbent has said that the video “blends the old with the new through imagery of themes present throughout Synthetica while simultaneously and subtly referencing moments throughout Metric’s career.” Can you pinpoint these career moments in the video?

Tyler Shaw – Kiss Goodnight
About the song/video: Coca Cola’s covers contest winner Tyler Shaw makes his music video debut with Kiss Goodnight, a saccharine love song with a video that’s just as romantic.
Fun fact: Shaw originally caught our attention with his cover of Hedley’s Invincible. He also teamed up with We Day shortly after, making a number of appearances and performing shows – funny enough, Hedley performed at the 2012 We Day concert in Toronto. See that connection we just made?

Young Empires – White Doves
About the song/video: Toronto dance-rock band, Young Empires create an epic music video with White Doves where a guy and a girl attempt to run away from a trail of fire.
Fun fact: An interactive version of this video was made available where fans could log in with their Facebook accounts, enter the name of a friend and the clip would tailor itself to feature photos of you and your friend. How cool is that!
