Ed Sheeran Admits He Hit Justin Bieber With A Golf Club In Carpool Karaoke
James Corden and The Late Late Show may be filming in jolly old England this week, but before the TV host flew home, he took a spin around LA with one of his fellow Englishmen. Actually, he took a spin with arguably the most famous Englishman in the world.
Back in January, iHeartRadio MMVA nominee and former MMVAs host Ed Sheeran confirmed that at some point this year he would be in the passenger seat as a guest on carpool karaoke and now the time has come. The longtime friends met years ago at the Brit Awards, and thanks to their history together, the latest episode of the viral sensation is one of the best. Who doesn’t want to grab a pint in a dodgy dive bar with Ed and James?
During the 13-minute clip, Sheeran admitted that he was quite nervous to film the segment, saying singing without his guitar makes him uncomfortable. Since Carpool Karaoke works best when the guest is relaxed, Sheeran brought his guitar along for the ride and even turned off the radio to perform a few of his biggest songs live.
Opening with Sheeran’s huge single “Shape of You,” the two went on to perform “Thinking Out Loud,” “Sing,” and “Castle on the Hill,” which required some rewriting since the quintessential driving song was playing while the men were stuck in typical LA traffic.
The pair also performed songs Sheeran has written for others, including Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” and One Direction’s “That’s What Makes You Beautiful.” Before singing Bieber’s famous single, Ed admitted that the story about him trying to hit a golf ball off Bieber’s face and instead hitting the popstar was true. Apparently, Justin was a really good sport about it. We would’ve asked for free song out of it.
Corden also challenged Sheeran to prove that the rumour about the singer being able to fit 47 Malteser chocolates in his mouth is true. It turns out, it’s not. Sheeran can fit 55 Maltesers in his mouth. We’re not sure whether were impressed or grossed out, but we think we’re somewhere in the middle.
