Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons and five other videos that feature puppets

ed puppets header

Ed Sheeran has released a new music video for his new single Sing and we think we’re seeing double. In the video, Sheeran is portrayed by a puppet who wreaks havoc in strip clubs and bars until he stumbles into a space where the real Ed Sheeran and Pharrell (who produced the song) are hanging out. Together, the three go out for a wild night of fun and drinks until the evening hits an abrupt end.

The idea of Sheeran as a puppet is hilarious and great, but this isn’t the first time we’ve seen puppets star in music videos. Take a look at Ed Sheeran’s new music video for Sing below and then hop down to see what other music videos have featured puppets!

Don’t forget to watch the 2014 MMVAs on Sunday, June 15 at 9E/6P on Much, CTV and CTV GO.

Imagine Dragons — Radioactive
MMVA performers Imagine Dragons were ahead of Sheeran in the puppet game with their music video for their hit single, Radioactive. In it, puppets are pitted against each other in a ring.

Weezer — Keep Fishin’
The most famous puppets of all time, the Muppets, starred in Weezer’s fun and colourful video for Keep Fishin’.

Coldplay — Life in Technicolor II
Rockers Coldplay prove that kids can still be captivated by live puppet shows as opposed to staring at digital screens in their video for Life in Technicolor II.

Lily Allen — Alfie
In Lily Allen’s video for Alfie, she has to deal with a brat of little brother who is played by an adorable looking puppet.

DJ Oizo — Flat Beat
If you asked us to describe what DJ Oizo looked like, we’d say a puppet. That’s how memorable his music video for Flat Beat was.

Mastodon — Deathbound
Metal rockers Mastodon put out a puppet-filled music video for their song Deathbound. Unlike most of the other videos on this list, though, this is most definitely not a kid-friendly clip — unless your kids enjoy puppet violence and destruction.
