Dan Rodo takes us Backstage for the MMVAs
Hey, whats up everybody! Right now you may be thinking one of two things to yourself. “OH this guy again, sweet! He is SO cool” or “…..Did I remember to do my science homework?”
YES! I am SO excited to be back as your SUBWAY® Backstage Correspondent at this years MMVAs alongside my new partner in crime for the week, Alyssa Talbot.
Last year was full of craziness, from passing PSY in a stairwell during rehearsals, to walking into a room backstage FULL of the top celebrities. The only thing I can guarantee myself for this year’s MMVAs is that I need to expect the unexpected.
If I had to explain what its like to be backstage on the night of the MMVAs, I would say its like a swarm of bees building a hive in under five minutes. Too obscure? Basically, it is very fast paced with hosts, actors, dancers, singers, and wranglers, all weaving in and around crowds to be where they need to be. If you like people watching then this is the place for you.
One of my favourite memories from last year is getting a text from some of the crew at MUCH telling me come meet them fast. They were on an outdoor patio with a bunch of people, including Billy Talent and Ill Scarlett. They told me to “watch this” and pointed at a TV with the MMVAs on. Seconds later, I saw myself on TV in a commercial! Within minutes I was receiving texts from friends and family and was giving high fives to everyone around me. I felt like the cool kid in the cafeteria for once…….(*cue song “All By Myself”*) I was even given the title as the “New Jared” amongst my friends!
I am so excited to start creating AWESOME content for all of you to see and enjoy because there will tons going on backstage to cover. I’d like to thank SUBWAY® restaurants for inviting me back to be a part of their awesome team and I can’t wait to get started. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram to get the latest on what’s happening backstage or if you have any questions about the MMVA preparation!
