The 2009 MMVAs Nominations Are In!
May 27th, 2009Alberta-turned-international rock gods Nickelback and R&B’s new northern light Danny Fernandes lead the way with five nods each as the 2009 MMVAs nominations were announced today. Vancouver punk poppers Marianas Trench follow closely with four. Co-hosted by the larger-than-life, heart-stopping trio known as the Jonas Brothers, the 2009 MMVAs honour the coolest, sexiest, and craziest Canadian videos of the year. The show airs live Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET, exclusively on MuchMusic. The MMVAs 09 RED CARPET SPECIAL kicks off the A-List action at 8 p.m. ET.
Other multiple nominees include rapper on the rise Classified, piano driven pop rockers The Midway State, first time nominee Lights, and Much veteran k-os. Additional nominees include international superstars and 2009 MMVAs performer Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Lil’ Wayne, and MMVAs co-hosts the Jonas Brothers. The MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS celebrate the art and mastery behind the Canadian music video industry, honouring the genius in front of, and behind the camera.
