Guess Who Camila Cabello Almost Collaborated With?

In an alternate universe, Camila Cabello’s name would’ve been at the top of last year’s charts all summer long.

During an interview on the Elvis Duran Morning Show, Cabello revealed a stellar collaboration that she squashed due to her ride-or-die instinct— the opportunity to sing on The Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” instead of Halsey. The only thing that stopped the former Fifth Harmony member from working on the summer hit was her loyalty to the group.

“I had to turn it down because I was with the group at the time, and we were about to put an album out,” she said. “I always tried to do my solo stuff off cycle, so that was super on, and so I had to say no, and then that was the number one song in the world.”

The “Crying In The Club” singer mentioned that she and The Chainsmokers recorded a completely different version of the song and she was offered the female lead vocals but it just wasn’t meant to be. Halsey stepped in and history was made, as it’s currently the second most-streamed Spotify song of all time.

Now that we’ve got a glimpse of the demo—which you can hear in the clip below—all we can do is demand a legit collab between her and the EDM duo.

Don’t forget to watch Camila Cabello’s solo performance at the iHeartRadio MMVAs on June 18 9E/6P.
