The Top 10 Best MMVA Nominee Collabs

Whenever two artists collab with each other, it’s a major fix of two sounds fusing into one. With the iHeartRadio MMVA nominations finally announced, we decided to round up the best collabs within our nominee pool and, of course, they’re a whole bunch of all-time faves. Jam out to our top picks below.

The Weeknd and Drake

Whenever The Weeknd and Drake come together, the OVOXO energy is contagious—especially in this classic chune. These two will go head-to-head in the Most Buzzworthy Canadian, Fan Fave Artist Or Group and iHeartRadio’s Canadian Single of the Year categories.

Beyoncé and Lady Gaga

Even though this single is seven years old, it still bangs. We’re not over the fact that Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill let Gaga and Beyoncé borrow the iconic Pussy Wagon.

Justin Bieber and Post Malone

First-time MMVA performer Post Malone linked up with the Biebz to drop this hot track from his debut album Stoney. Ring, ring! And if you’re feeling a lil déjà vu, it’s probably because you noticed it’s heavily influenced by a little known Drizzy track called “Hotline Bling.”

Drake making a cameo on his OVO crew’s tracks is nothing new. But we are living for the heat that PARTYNEXTDOOR brings to Drake’s “Since Way Back” and “With You.” When it comes to PND and Drake releasing music together, it’s definitely hard to pick one smash collab,  but we had to “Recognize” this hit below.

Future and The Weeknd

You may be accustomed to Future and Drake’s knockout mixtape What A Time To Be Alive, but Future turned to XO to work on “Low Life” and “Coming Out Strong,” from his sixth album HNDRXX. And, The Weeknd called on Future for the moody Starboy track “All I Know,” which the two were rumoured to film a Toronto-based video for back in March.

Majid Jordan and Roy Woods

Majid Jordan is well-known for writing and featuring in Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” but the Toronto duo linked up with another OVO-signee, Brampton’s Roy Woods in this spicy collab.

DVSN and Drake

As mentioned above, it’s a well-known fact that if you’re signed with OVO Sound, you’re likely going to collab with Drake. Toronto R&B duo DVSN are known for their sensual slow jams, but were thrust moreso into the limelight after this Views collab.

The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran

You may think this is an odd pairing, but The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran’s brooding “Dark Times” proves two genres can complement each other and make a *magical* sound.

Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello

Shawn Mendes leads with four noms alongside Grimes and A Tribe Called Red. We know what the Cuban Princess Camila Cabello and Mendes did last summer—they took home the 2016 iHeartRadio MMVA for Fan Fave Video.

River Tiber and Kaytranada

Newcomers to the iHeartRadio MMVA noms, Toronto’s very own River Tiber and Montreal’s most-buzzworthy DJ Kaytranada pushed out a couple hits from Kaytra’s debut album 99.9%. You know we’ll be bumpin’ “Bus Ride” while on transit.

Don’t forget to tune into Much on June 18 for the 2017 iHeartRadio MMVAs for this star-studded awards full of *epic* live performances by Post Malone, Niall Horan, Lorde, Iggy Azalea, Jazz Cartier, Imagine Dragons, DNCE and Julia Michaels.
