Get Epic House Party Inspo From These MMVA Nominees

The iHeartRadio MMVAs is basically one big house party, save for a few minor details: It features your favourite artists in their best style, has nearly a thousand attendees and takes place on the streets of Toronto. So to get ready for the epic MMVA party experience, we’ve made a list of the best beats and the quirkiest ways to host a memorable affair. Jam out to these party jams whether it’s by a pool or in an Uber on your way to the real celebration.

I’m the One — DJ Khaled feat Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper, Quavo and Lil Wayne

We’re crowning this the official intro to summer song. If you have a pool, it’s absolutely mandatory that this is on your playlist between now and August. Bieber’s stellar collaborations on “I’m the One” and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” have scored him two consecutive No.1 hits and nominations for Most Buzzworthy Canadian and Fan Fave Artist. Biebs lent his seductive vocals to “I’m The One,” which features Chance The Rapper, a Best New Artist nominee, and Quavo of Migos, who are nominated for iHeartRadio International Duo or Group of the Year.

Glowed Up — Kaytranada feat Anderson .Paak

As per usual, Kaytranada provided those feel good beats that make you want to nod rhythmically with your squad. This collaboration has earned him a nomination for Video of the Year and is perfect house party inspiration. To mimic this smoky ambience, put in some purple light bulbs and get yourself a fog machine (and then invite us).

Congratulations — Post Malone feat Quavo

This tune is good for a party sure, but it’s even better for the pre-party. You know, the pre-drink and getting ready part that has you screaming “Congratulations!” cause you’re feeling like a boss. All you need is a confetti machine (or settle for the confetti filter on Snapchat) to recreate the aesthetic. Catch Post Malone performing live at this year’s MMVAs—there’s a high likelihood of confetti, but don’t count on any stacks of dollar billz raining down on Queen Street.

Here — Alessia Cara

Alessia Cara created the best party jam for an introvert’s night in. Her debut hit “Here” earned Cara a MMVA last year, but it’s too good to not shout out here because it represents every socially awkward friend who’s ever been dragged to a house party. Her third single “Scars To Your Beautiful” from her debut album Know-It-All is nominated for a Canadian Single of The Year award and is one of the reasons she’s a Fan Fave nominee.

Go — Grimes feat. Blood Diamond

Grimes originally wrote this song for Rihanna but when it was rejected, she turned it into a visual masterpiece. The same artistry earned her four nominations for “Venus Fly,” including Best Director and Best Dance Video. Here are three ways you can throw a party like a psychedelic Grimes: bring a slip and slide to the nearest park, throw a glow-in-the-dark costume party with funky masks included, or if you’re feeling really reckless, combine them both.
