Alessia Cara Will Return To Perform At The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs
Last year’s iHeartRadio MMVAs host Alessia Cara will return this year to take the stage in one of the biggest performances of the night.
The Brampton, Ontario native knows her way around the iHeartRadio MMVA stage. The 21-year-old co-hosted last year’s award show with bestie Joe Jonas and made her iHeartRadio MMVAs debut back in 2016, where she performed her breakout hit “Here” and also took home the award for Best New Canadian Artist.
Getting her start on YouTube with covers of past performers like Drake and Ed Sheeran, the pop artist released her five-track EP Four Pink Walls in August 2015 and followed it up that November with her first full-length album Know-It-All which featured the hit songs “Scars To Your Beautiful,” “Wild Things,” and “Here.”
Drawing comparisons to everyone from Amy Winehouse to Lorde to Norah Jones, Cara has quickly gained success on pop radio but has since solidified her place as powerhouse singer by winning the Grammy Award for Best New Artist earlier this year. Most recently, Cara has released the first single off her forthcoming sophomore album “Growing Pains”—a booming, emotional track with powerful lyrics about self-love that are carried by the young artist’s strong vocals.
In addition to Alessia Cara, today’s performer announcement also includes Halsey and Marshmello featuring Anne Marie. The 2018 iHeartRadio MMVAs go down Sunday, August 26 at 9E/6P.
