7 Totally Awesome Ideas for Marianas Trench to Arrive at the 2014 MMVAs
MMVA presenters Marianas Trench are the undeniable kings of the MMVA red carpet. Every year The boys of Marianas Trench come up with an interesting way of making their entrance on the red carpet. In the past they’ve had a marching band, arrived as mermaids in a dunk tank, had a ninja fight, and rolled in hamster balls. It’s obvious that Marianas Trench’s red carpet game is strong. And while we patiently wait to see what dramatic and iconic way they plan on walking the red carpet we have a few suggestions.
1. A trampoline
How awesome would it be to see Josh and the boys arrive jumping on a trampoline? The trampoline will be pulled by a truck and obviously have a net for safety purposes. They’d definitely get the red carpet jumpin’ jumpin’.
2. Cirque du Marianas Trench
The circus is coming to town! The band will arrive on the back of an elephant, I know that seems a little extreme but go big or go home. Other highlights to this arrival include trapeze artists, fire breathers, and a bearded lady.
3. Hatching Marianas Trench
Marianas Trench is famous for paying homage to Lady Gaga (in 2010 lead singer Josh Ramsay wore a fireworks bra reminiscent of Lady Gaga 2009 MMVA performance). This year they can reference Lady Gaga’s 2011 Grammy entrance by coming inside eggs.
4. A Dance with Dragons
Since Marianas Trench are the reigning kings of the MMVA red carpet why not arrive this year with a Game of Thrones theme. The guys will arrive as knights in armour on the back of horses. They could even have an inflatable dragon. The fire breathing is optional.
5. Velcro Wall
Keeping up with the carnival theme from last year, the band could arrive in a Velcro suit jumping back and forth on a movable Velcro wall. It may be distracting trying to conduct an interview while attached to a wall but who knows, they could get a lucky fan to help peel them off.
6. Dressed to impress
Marianas Trench are known trickster and are not afraid to poke fun at themselves. How funny would it be to see the band dressed up in iconic red carpet dresses. Some dresses include Jennifer Lopez’s 2000 Grammy dress, Bjork’s swam tutu ensemble, Jennifer Lawrence’s 2014 Golden Globes belted Dior dress, and of course Rihanna’s see through CFDA dress.
7. Sky dive in
It’s raining Marianas Trench! The band will sky dive in on the red carpet and make history as the best red carpet arrival in MMVA history.

Instead of catching ghosts (or Pokémon) this week, Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones had the unfortunate task of busting the most unseemly creatures 2016 has to offer: Twitter trolls. Yesterday, Jones visited Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss the Twitter trolls she encountered in response to the Ghostbusters movie. With her recent return back to Twitter […]
Amy Winehouse had a voice much bigger than her five-foot-something stature. When Back to Black went double platinum nearly a year after its release, this tiny kid from the U.K. had the world wondering, “What is this girl about?” My story with Winehouse started before she became a household name. As July 23 marks five years since […]
With The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now just a few weeks away, we can’t help but listen to the iconic theme song on repeat. Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” has become a nostalgic song for the 20-somethings of this generation. It makes us think of a time when Sidekick phones were all the rage, Paris […]
Céline Dion hasn’t spent a lifetime performing to sold out crowds just to sit on a couch and do a few halfhearted impressions. The woman’s an *entertainer*. That’s why when Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon invited the Grammy winner to play Wheel of Musical Impressions, Dion agreed. And then she slayed. Dion did the usual […]
